How to Secure your WordPress Blog
Posted on | February 1, 2010 | 2 Comments
Many install their WordPress Blogs by using Fantastico in the Cpanel.
This is an easy way to do it, but you will end up using default settings that some unfriendly people will take advantage of.
It is not that difficult to install your blog manually so that you can avoid those default settings.
I will show you how to go into Cpanel and setup your database, how to create a config file for WordPress, and how to change your login name to anything you want.
Below is a video that takes you from registering a domain to installing your WordPress Blog in the most secure way.

Is Fantastico really not that secure? I’ve never heard this before.

Hey Corrisa
It is not that Fantastico is secure or not, it is how they install worpress using defaults.
Fantastico now allows you to choose your own login id, verses “admin”, which is good.
The less default settings the better and more secure your blog is.
